Current 15 year Captain, 27 year employee of Pasco County Fire Rescue.
Several times since entering DROP I have been targeted by my administration in which they broke from past practices and treated me differently than all other employees. Example is I was forced to use sick time to go to work comp appointments while all others allowed to go on duty, investigations launched on my crew and I but when it is discovered someone other than us violated rules everything is dropped with no discipline to guilty parties, latest was a fire on 1/1/16 in which my crew and I made a great stop on a garage fire. The Chief and investigator both wrote us accomindations. Yet 3 weeks later the Chief reviews a youtube video about 3 minutes long and I was removed from the street with a Staff Chief stating " The Chief has lost faith in your abilities as a Captain" during the brief discussion this same Staff Chief stated " the Chief just thinks you are too old to continue as a Captain"
I was reassigned to a position never used for anyone before" Administrative Light Duty" and they attempted to pay me the same as 24/48 but since it had never been done before it has been a fight.
I can prove several issues of being targeted, have witnesses to a phone conversation where my immediate supervisor and the assistant chief discuss how he has been targeting me as she instructed but was upset his evaluation was not better with him doing her dirty work, this same supervisor told me in front of crew almost weekly " others have to good at their jobs but you ( me) must be perfect because if they find a mistake, they ( administration) will crusify you" this has been an enormus stress to work under for the last year or so.
I have 15 years as a Captain evaluations that met or exceeded standards and have never had a single thing documented below standards in my evaluations for my 27 years of employment.
I have filed a grievance for offensive work environment with basis of age discrimination and other issues I believe are discriminatiry unprecidented actions against me that have no reasonable reason why past practices could not be followed.
I want to have legal representation and assistance on all future hearings and assistance filing an EEOC complaint as well as any and all legal proceeding towards the department, the Asst Chief, and the Chief of the department.
