Bill, my name is Mike Briggs and have a question. My brother has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic since 1980 and now lives in a nursing home (Rose View on Mansfield road) and the state covers the bill. We still own a home on Junior place and the ownership is split 50% to my mother, 16.5% to me, 16.5% to my Sister (Lisa) and 16.5% to my bother. We have been renting the house for the last 4 years and the renter wants to purchase the home. All the owners want to sell except my brother. He is highly delusional and isn't competent to live on his own. I was wondering if there is anyway to find out if the state has already declared him incompetent and can we get power of attorney to make this house sale? The house has many problems and we cannot insure it so it a huge liability risk for us and would really like to get it off our plate.
