Mr Brunnock, On January 25, 2016, I made an appointment with a urologist for an answer on an elevated PSA test, and digital exam. After returning for 3 appointments in March, which included testing in his office. Another test and consultation on May 5, 2016. He told me he wanted to do a test called "Urodynamics". He said, "I don't think it's cancer, it's BPH, an enlarged prostate. He prescribed a medication to help me with my urinary problems. I did the test in a surgical center on September 9, 2016. The conclusion was, he wanted to laser shave the prostate to give me relief and I'd be able to get off the medication. He wanted to see me 2 weeks later, to discuss the next procedure. Not feeling comfortable with his conclusion, I continued on the medication until it needed to be renewed. At that point I made an appointment for a second opinion. On the first visit with another doctor in May of 2017, he did a digital exam.
He told me I had a nodule on my prostate and needed a biopsy. Results came back positive for cancer with a 7 Gleason score. The previous doctor never ordered a biopsy because he thought "it wasn't cancer". Somehow, I feel It might have been easier to treat if it was diagnosed a year earlier. Of course, I'm worried for myself and my family. I would much appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Thank you
