I am a citizen of the UK and recently entered into correspondence on Facebook with a resident of Roseboro NC after meeting on a dating site. She wanted to visit me in the UK and needed help with the air fare. I sent her £200 by MoneyGram (addressed to her "sister" in Roseboro). She claimed to have booked the flight and sent me a photographic image of the "booking". When she told me that she needed a further $1000 to be allowed to pick up her tickets (claiming that the Immigration authorities required it as evidence she could take care of herself if there were any problems in the UK), I realised it was a scam and refused to send more money. She then said that she could not come and offered to return the money. I ensured she had my name and address so that she could send the money the next day (today 17th June).I have heard nothing more. I beleive that her identity on the dating site and the facebook page were all fake. However, I do have the "sister's" name and address in Roseboro because I had to have that to send the money. What legal action can I take to recover the money, and how much would it cost for a legal letter to be sent to her (ie the sister to whom I sent the money) saying that I will take action unless I receive the money in a given timescale? Thank you
