I was under the care of Endocrinologist Dr. Farkouh from September . I saw him once monthly during that time. My thyroid was never controlled during those 2 years. My initial scan in November 2011 I was told my thyroid was enlarged at that time.  He placed me on Tapazole at that time to control my hormone levels. I continued with the medication until I spoke with my sisters who have Graves’ disease who said why haven’t you just had your thyroid removed? At my next monthly apt. I told Dr. Farkouh I wanted to have my thyroid removed he was not controlling my levels and I was so very symptomatic at that point. Dr. Farkouh after my demand for surgery he sent me to see Surgeon Dr. Chahfe  and scheduled me for a Total Thyroidectomy. In January 2013 I had my Total Thyroidectomy. Well under Dr. Farkouhs care from 2011 to 2013 he allowed my thyroid to grow to stage IV before I demanded surgery.  when I returned to Dr. Farkouhs office after surgery was placed back on the Tapazole (the same medicine I had been on pre-surgery?)  I continued doctoring with Dr. Farkouh until July 2013 at which point my thyroid was still not regulated and he told me I probably would need another surgery!??  At that point I stopped seeing both Dr. Farkouh and Dr. Chahfe in pursuit of another endocrinologist. I currently see Endocrinologist Dr. Madhia Alvi in Cooperstown NY who during our initial consult asked me if I really had surgery because I still have my entire gland!? I showed her my scare and she said you might have a scar but you still have your thyroid in you! She said we have to start over from the beginning (scans-biopsy-radioactive iodine or possible surgery again if it is malignant.)    Whatever their plan was failed , now  I have been left to suffer and endure years of further thyroid turmoil ,from possible cancer to even more radioactive exposure to a possible second surgery.
